PIAZZA
FARNESE |
The
Piazza Farnese contains the Palazzo Farnese which
was the first piece of renaissance architecture to
be built in Rome. Michelangelo was responsible for
the facade which was recently spruced up in preperation
for the Vatican Jubilee celebrations. Nowadays, Palazzo
Farnese is the home of the French Embassy in Rome.
The square is uncluttered apart from two 17 century
fountains made from the marble taken from the baths
of Caracalla. The fountains are decorated with Lillies
the emblem of the old Roman Farnese family...
